Pricing & Cost Transparency

How much does it cost to fix a cracked iPhone screen in Springfield, MA?

It depends on the model — an older iPhone SE or 8 screen is a fraction of what an iPhone 17 Pro Max screen costs, because the parts cost that differently. Whatever we quote covers parts and labor, and you get the number before we touch the phone. Call or text 413-234-4313 with your model and we'll give you the exact price on the spot.

Does PHYX charge extra fees I should know about?

Your quoted repair price covers parts and labor. On top of that there are two things, and that's the whole list: any kind of card payments carry a 3.5% processing fee — cash, Cash App, and Venmo currently don't. And on a labor-heavy job that still doesn't produce a working device, a bench fee can apply — we tell you that before you leave it with us.

Is there a diagnostic or "bench" fee if you can't fix my device?

Most of the time there's no bench fee at all — if we can find it and fix it quickly, you just pay for the repair. Where a fee applies is a labor-heavy job that still doesn't produce a working device after real effort. It varies with the repair and how much work it takes, and it's never more than $50. Ask us for the number before you drop off and we'll tell you straight.

Do you offer free repair quotes?

Yes. We'll quote you right over the phone. Bring the device in, or text us photos, and you get a free, no-obligation price before any work starts. To be clear about where "free" stops: the look is free. A labor-heavy teardown to chase a hidden fault is the one case where a bench fee can apply, and we'll tell you before we go there.

Is it cheaper to repair my phone or buy a new one?

For most cracked screens, battery problems, or charging ports, a repair costs a lot less than replacing the phone. We'll also tell you honestly when it isn't worth fixing — we've told plenty of customers to put the money toward one of our used or refurbished phones instead, and we've told plenty of others their phone is absolutely worth fixing. It depends on the device.

Do you price-match other repair shops in the area?

No, we do not price match. Our prices are completely fair in the market for the work that we do, for the parts that are involved, and for the quality that is received.

02

Screen, Battery & Common Repairs

What devices does PHYX repair and sell?

iPhones, Android phones, iPads, Macs, PCs, game consoles, drones, and more. We also handle some technical support, data recovery, and logic-board repair.

How long does an iPhone or Samsung screen repair take at PHYX?

Most screen and battery repairs are completed within a few hours. More involved repairs — logic board issues, water damage, or data recovery — can take up to a week or longer if parts need to be ordered or if we need to involve one of our specialists.

Can you fix a phone that won't turn on?

Most of the time, yes. A phone that won't power on is usually a battery, charging port, or logic-board issue — not a dead phone. Sometimes we can't: if it's the logic board we refer it to one of our specialists, and we do that all the time. Bring it in, the look is free.

Can you repair a cracked back glass on my iPhone?

Yes, PHYX repairs shattered or cracked back glass on iPhones and Samsung devices. It's what we do. Pricing depends on the model — call or text 413-234-4313 for a quote.

Do you fix charging port problems?

Yes, we repair charging ports on iPhones, Androids, tablets, and other devices that won't charge properly or that have become loose or unresponsive. These are routine repairs.

My phone has no image but the screen isn't cracked — can you help?

Possibly. If the glass isn't cracked but you've got no image, lines, or discoloration, that's often the LCD itself. Sometimes it's the logic board not putting out video. Either way we have to see it — bring it in, the look is free.

Why did Face ID stop working after I dropped my phone?

Face ID is a delicate sensor system, and a drop can knock it out with no visible screen damage at all — usually the front camera assembly, the proximity sensor, or the earpiece area took the hit. It varies by model. We don't repair Face ID at this store. If you need it working, we can send it out to one of our specialists — figure 7 to 10 business days, and we'll get you the cost before anything happens.

Do you use original Apple or Samsung parts?

A mix: OEM pulls from other devices, new OEM parts, and high-quality aftermarket. It depends on the model, on what you want, and on what the part costs. On some models the aftermarket screen is as good as the OEM and that's what we buy; on some you've got a choice and you pick; on some there's only OEM. We also sell original manufacturer devices, cables, and accessories. Either way, we tell you what's going into your device before we do it.

Do you carry the parts?

We stock most parts for popular phones — Apple iPhones and iPads, Samsung, LG, Motorola, TCL, Revvl, and even most Obama phone models. If we don't have what your repair needs, we can most likely order it.

Can I bring in my own replacement part for you to install?

Usually yes — but it isn't our preference. Customer-supplied parts create friction, and if the part turns out to be bad we've spent the labor for nothing. If you bring your own: it has to be the right part, we charge our normal labor either way, and there's no warranty on that repair. Call ahead so we can confirm the part fits before you make the trip.

My phone got wet — can it still be saved?

We'll do everything we can to get it to boot so you can pull your data off — phones aren't built to survive liquid. Whether it works depends on how long it was exposed and what got hit. Bring it in as soon as you can, skip the rice (it doesn't work), and don't try to power it on yourself. And don't wait — every day makes it worse.

Does rice work?

No, rice does not work. Please do not put your device into rice. Instead bring it to the store immediately. Putting a device in rice is a myth and not scientifically viable.

Will Face ID still work after you replace my iPhone screen?

In most cases, yes — replacing the screen doesn't touch Face ID. If something Face-ID-related was damaged in the same drop, it won't come back, and we'll tell you that's a possibility before we start. Face ID itself isn't something we repair here.

03

Data, Backups & Privacy

Will I lose my photos and data during a repair?

99% of the time, no. Most standard repairs (screens, batteries, charging ports) don't affect your stored data, but we always recommend backing up your device before any repair as a safety precaution. But really no one in general loses their data when fixing their phone.

Do you offer data recovery services?

Yes, PHYX offers data recovery for phones, tablets, and computers, including devices that won't power on or have suffered water damage. Recovery timelines vary depending on the extent of damage.

Can you unlock my phone if I forgot my passcode?

We can remove a passcode on an iPhone or iPad, and we can clear Google account locks on most Samsung models. One thing to know before you come in: this wipes the device — everything on it is gone, and you'll need your Apple ID login to get back in afterward. iCloud Activation Lock is a different thing: only the account holder or Apple can clear that, and no repair shop can get around it. And none of this is a carrier unlock — see the next question.

Does PHYX unlock phones for a different carrier?

No. We don't do carrier or network unlocks — we can't move a phone from Verizon to T-Mobile or any other carrier. For that, contact your carrier directly and ask them — the eligibility rules and the timing are theirs, not ours. Don't confuse this with passcode removal, which is a different service and one we do offer — see the question above.

Is my personal data safe when I bring my device to PHYX?

Yes. Our technicians only get into what the repair or diagnostic actually requires — we're not going through your photos or your messages. No one has ever complained that their data was compromised at PHYX. We are just here to fix the phone or the device.

04

Warranty & Guarantees

Does PHYX offer a warranty on repairs?

Yes. If something isn't right after a repair, we take another look — we stand behind our work. Screens are the strongest case: most screens we install carry a defect warranty from our supplier. That covers the screen failing or acting up on its own. It does not cover new damage — a fresh crack, a drop, or liquid after the repair is a new repair, not a warranty claim. Coverage varies by part and by job. Ask us what your specific repair comes with before you pay, and we'll tell you.

What if my device has an issue after it's been repaired at your store?

Bring it back. If something isn't right after the repair we'll take another look and make it right — that's the guarantee. Follow-up problems tied to the original repair are handled at no extra cost. A separate, unrelated issue is a separate repair, and we'll tell you which one you're looking at before we do anything.

Is my device still under Apple or Samsung warranty if PHYX repairs it?

If your device is still under Apple's or Samsung's warranty, go to them first — we'll tell you that straight, before we take the job. Here's the honest version: a manufacturer can't cancel your entire warranty just because an independent shop opened the device, but they can refuse to cover anything connected to our repair, and in practice Apple and Samsung will usually decline service on a device with non-original parts in it. Most of what we work on is already out of warranty anyway. Ask us first and we'll tell you which way makes sense for your device.

What's your return policy on phones and devices you sell?

If you ordered online, you have 5 days from delivery to send it back — same condition, return shipping on you, and we refund the purchase price in full. Devices bought at the counter are final with no cash refunds, but if there's an issue with something purchased from PHYX in person, we'll repair it or exchange it for you. Reach out before you buy if you have questions about a specific device's condition.

05
